Develop core silversmithing skills in our 3-day Summer Jewellery Making School taught by Kitty Coffey-Payne. Focused on fundamental technique acquisition rather than rapid production, this intensive course covers metal texturing, piercing, drilling, silver soldering, wire drawing, ring sizing, and making earring findings. Depending on individual progress, students finish a small collection of custom silver pieces while building a solid foundation in working metal.

What you'll make
- A small collection of practice pieces and silver designs (such as rings and earrings), with projects tailored to individual pace and progress. (Note: This course prioritises skill acquisition over fixed project output).
Skills & Techniques
- Workshop Safety & Tool Efficiency: Mastering proper tool selection, posture, and safe studio practice.
- Surface Texturing: Applying textures to metal using embossing, hammering, and stamping tools.
- Piercing Saw Mastery: Fitting blades correctly and sawing precise internal and external shapes in metal by hand.
- Drilling & Wire Fabrication: Drilling holes using various studio tools, drawing wire, and fabricating handmade findings and wire elements.
- Silver Soldering: Learning fundamental silver soldering techniques for joining metal components.
- Ring & Earring Fabrication: Sizing, measuring, forming, and soldering rings, alongside making custom earring fittings.
- Finishing & Supplier Sourcing: Filing, polishing, finishing metal to a high standard, and learning how to order tools and precious metals.

- Pacing: Students work at their own individual pace; specific project completion depends on personal progress throughout the 3 days.
