Spend two full days in our professional jewellery studio learning advanced polishing techniques in this Jewellery Polishing Masterclass with visiting tutor Stephen M Goldsmith, known as “The Gold Polishing Guru”. With over 50 years of master polishing experience, Stephen guides you through compound selection, mop types, spindle and pendant motor operation, fire stain removal, and achieving high-grade mirror and satin finishes on your own jewellery.

All polishing mops and materials included: You will have your own spindle, mops, compounds, and materials provided for the masterclass, as well as full access to workshop benches, tools, and equipment. Students must bring at least 6 items of their own jewellery at the point where they are ready for polishing.
What you'll make
- Professional-level mirror and satin finishes applied directly to your own supplied pieces of jewellery (at least 6 unpolished items required).
Skills & Techniques
- Equipment Operation: Polishing using a spindle polishing motor and a pendant motor safely and effectively.
- Compounds & Mops Selection: Understanding the application of different polishing compounds, mops, and frosting wheels.
- Mirror & Satin Surface Finishing: Techniques for achieving high-grade mirror finishes on various metals, alongside diverse satin finishes.
- Fire Stain Removal: Technical steps to identify and eradicate fire stain from precious metal work.
- Health & Safety: Essential safety protocols, loose clothing prevention, and proper machine operation procedures.

- 2 full days of direct tuition and demonstrations with Master Polisher Stephen M Goldsmith.
- Dedicated spindle station, mops, compounds, and polishing materials provided for each attendee.
- Full access to BENCHspace workshop benches, tools, and equipment as needed.
- Studio facilities including microwave, kettle, and fridge.
Good to know
- Prerequisites: Best suited for jewellers with some prior experience looking to take their polishing finish to a professional level.
- Requirements: Attendees must bring at least 6 items of their own jewellery that are ready for polishing.
- Class Size: Strictly limited to 8 spaces to ensure individual guidance for every student.
- Dress Code & Safety: Closed-toe footwear is mandatory. No loose clothing (e.g. scarves) and long hair must be tied back. Old/workshop-friendly clothing is recommended as polishing can be messy.
- Catering: Please bring your own lunch. Fridge, microwave, and kettle are available.

- Access: 1st floor (stair access only – sorry, no wheelchair access)
- Free Visitor Parking: Available directly opposite the workshop, right next to the snack bar (halfway down the main road on the right side).
- GPS Note: We are located before Morgan Marine. Look for the parking area in front of the snack bar.
