Silver included (Gemstone extra): Includes silver to make one ring, tools, equipment, and tuition. Gemstones are not included in the fee; bring your own stone (approx. 7–8mm) or purchase one on the day (amethyst, citrine, topaz, garnet, or peridot, depending on availability). Additional silver can be purchased on the day if required.

What you'll make

A silver ring featuring a custom-made bezel setting and a set fancy shaped faceted gemstone (square, marquise, pear, or trillion).

Skills & Techniques

Fancy Bezel Fabrication: Measuring, shaping, and fabricating custom bezel settings from scratch for non-round/fancy cut stones.
Precision Measuring & Ring Base Construction: Accurately measuring and cutting silver for the base ring.
Bezel Soldering: Precise silver soldering to join and attach bezels securely to ring shanks.
Stone Seating & Setting: Preparing the setting seat, placing the stone, and setting a fancy cut faceted gemstone.
Finishing & Polishing: Cleaning, refining, and final polishing of the set ring.

Full 1-day step-by-step tuition and live demonstrations from goldsmith Marlies White.
Silver materials to construct one ring.
Individual jeweller’s bench with full access to studio tools and setting equipment.
Unlimited refreshments available throughout the session.

Good to know

Prerequisites: Not suitable for absolute beginners. Requires prior jewellery making experience and foundation skills in soldering, piercing, and forming. No prior stone setting experience is needed.
Physical Requirements: Steady hands and good eyesight are essential for precision work.
Gemstone Information: Bring your own fancy cut stone (approx. 7–8mm) or buy one at the workshop (subject to availability).
Class Size: Strictly limited to 8 spaces to ensure quality time with the tutor.

Just got back from a hammered & stamped ring making workshop with Karen & I had so much fun! I dragged my fiance to who is a stay at home type of person & he absolutely loved it too & I’ve got two brand new rings! Karen is a great teacher, funny, laid back & really puts you at ease.
