Craft a sterling silver ring from scratch in our 3-hour Silver Hammered & Stamped Ring Workshop. Designed for absolute beginners, this monthly taster session guides you through choosing your silver profile width, applying hammer textures, and using metal stamping tools to add names, dates, numbers, or symbols to the inside or outside of your band. You will learn to form, silver solder with gas torches, file, and polish your custom ring.

What you'll make

A custom sterling silver ring tailored to your size, featuring your choice of hammered textures and metal-stamped text, numbers, or symbols.

Skills & Techniques

Ring Sizing & Profile Selection: Measuring for proper fit and choosing from various sterling silver profile widths.
Hammer Texturing: Applying decorative hammer textures to the metal surface.
Metal Stamping: Using metal stamps to imprint letters, numbers, or symbols onto the inside (secret message) or outside of the ring band.
Forming & Shaping: Bending silver wire/strip stock into a ring shape using mandrels and mallets.
Silver Soldering: Joining the ring seam using gas torches and silver solder.
Filing & High-Shine Polishing: Cleaning up solder joints, refining edges, and polishing the final ring to a high finish.

What's Included

3-hour practical workshop instruction (10:00 am to 1:00 pm).
All sterling silver ring stock, soldering supplies, and polishing materials.
Dedicated jeweller’s bench equipped with a full set of tools for every student.
Unlimited refreshments throughout the morning.

Good to know

Prerequisites: Absolute beginners welcome. Designed for a range of abilities, from complete novices to those with prior experience.
Frequency: This workshop typically runs on the first weekend of every month.
Studio Rules: Class size is limited to 8 spaces; studio space is strictly reserved for booked attendees (no non-booking observers permitted).
Progression: Serves as a foundation taster session before moving on to other workshops or 8-week courses.

Just got back from a hammered & stamped ring making workshop with Karen & I had so much fun! I dragged my fiance to who is a stay at home type of person & he absolutely loved it too & I’ve got two brand new rings! Karen is a great teacher, funny, laid back & really puts you at ease. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a day out on their own or with friends, or looking to get into jewellery making / silver / goldsmithing! I can’t wait to do another 😍
