Explore your love of colour in our Introduction to Jewellery Enamelling Workshop with expert jeweller and tutor Sara Barker. This session introduces the techniques of sieving, dry brushing, and wet packing coloured enamel powders onto copper test pieces before kiln firing. You will learn the basics of vitreous enamelling, practice layering enamels, understand the firing process, and explore surface design, pattern making, and colour combinations.

All materials included: Includes all copper test pieces, enamel powders, kiln firings, tools, tuition, and sterling silver hoops or hooks.
What you'll make
- Enamelled copper test pieces exploring sifting and wet packing techniques, and final designs finished with sterling silver hoops or hooks.
Skills & Techniques
- Vitreous Enamelling Basics: Applying and fusing powdered glass to a copper metal base using heat in a high-temperature kiln.
- Sifting & Dry Brushing: Practicing dry enamel application techniques and layering powders.
- Wet Packing Technique: Applying moist enamel powders side by side to produce different surface finishes.
- Metal Preparation & Firing: Learning how to prepare metal, gauge firing times, and fire pieces in the kiln.
- Troubleshooting: Understanding colour considerations and learning how to reduce risks such as fire scale build-up and over firing.

- Hands-on learning with tutor demonstrations from Sara Barker.
- Access to a fully equipped jewellery studio with two enamelling kilns and individual bench toolsets.
